Presales Solution Architect / Sales Consultant

This is a great opportunity to work in a Presales role within the Oracle Technology Sales Business Unit. In this role you will support Oracle Technology opportunities with our Belgian and Luxembourg customers. You will work closely together with the Sales Representatives, Sales Consulting colleagues, Oracle Direct and other Oracle Lines of Business as well as with product management in EMEA and Oracle Headquarters.

The Presales Solution Architect is responsible for proposing Oracle solutions that fit within the customer’s business environment and business objectives and can be shown to address the customer’s business pains and opportunities. The Presales Solution Architect is able to perform discovery of business and current IT environment, and use the breadth of their knowledge of the Oracle solution portfolio to identify the components required to construct the most appropriate solution for the customer. Close collaboration with our network of subject matter experts in various domains ensures the fit of the solution.

Presales Solution Architects are characterised by their ability to communicate at business and technical level, their broad scope of knowledge of Applications and Technology offerings and trends, and their understanding of implementation and transition processes and challenges. It is typical that a Solution Architect will have knowledge of one or more Industry sectors and is able to present solutions in an Industry context.

A Presales Solution Architect will work across multiple solution domains and will be responsible for bringing elements from those domains together into coherent customer solutions. A Presales Solution Architect should be skilled at presenting to C-level audiences focusing on demonstrating the business value of solutions rather than technical detail.

The Presales Solution Architect role is sales oriented and focused on delivering long-term value to the customer and Oracle.



  • Bachelor, Masters degree or similar through experience, work experience in a similar role is an advantage

  • Min 5 years of experience in IT (Consulting, Presales, Development etc)

  • Acts as an expert and evangelist in Oracle Technology

  • Maintains up to date broad knowledge of Oracle products

  • Maintains up to date product and technical knowledge of the Oracle portfolio for an industry

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of competitive & partner applications and technology offerings

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of Oracle architecture engagement processes and tools

  • Maintains awareness of IT Industry architecture development frameworks and approaches

  • Reports to Solution Architect Sales Consulting Manager in the License Sales Lines of Business

  • Work in a presales & sales environment whereby independence, responsibility, initiative and teamwork are very important

Sales Cycle

  • Designs, develops, documents and delivers solution architectures that meet client needs

  • Conducts Insight, Architecture & Blueprint or Roadmap customer engagements where appropriate

  • Works with the account team to own and deliver the technology business plan

  • Orchestrates & arbitrates between relevant technical experts to determine proposed customer solution

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with customer’s IT throughout the sales lifecycle

  • Contributes to the generation of proposals ensuring they reflect the capability of Oracle’s technology and application solutions for the relevant industry

  • Helps determine and support the technology product and architectural sales strategies

  • Ensures solution is practical and provides continuity at start of implementation project

  • Ability to connect technology with measurable business value

Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.

As a Principal Sales Consultant you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions. Develops productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
