Position Purpose & Summary

The role will work on corporate development projects (including acquisitions, divestitures, joint-ventures, investments) across Cargill's broad array of businesses in the Europe Middle East and Africa region and globally.

The position will think about how to manage the risks and leverage the opportunities presented by the biggest global issues facing the world today – from food security, food safety, and sustainability to global trade flows and new technologies and business models.

Exposure to Cargill’s senior leadership: as an Associate you will work directly and frequently alongside Cargill’s senior executives.

A strong general management foundation: In CSD, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and lead high-performing project teams, hone advanced financial & corporate development knowledge and general management skills, and develop a network with colleagues from operations, finance, trading, and sales.

Principal Accountabilities

70% Transaction Execution

  • Execute all type of transactions (acquisitions, divestitures, JVs, mergers, minority investments) from early stage of the process (ideation) to completion and post-completion (integration, disentanglement etc.)

  • Support best in class execution of M&A projects including but not limited to financial analysis, valuation, due-diligence, marketing, structuring, documentation and process management

  • Coordinate with all stakeholders (internal and external) to drive efficient process, leveraging from known best practices

  • Help prepare acquisition proposals and support in recommending financial and nonfinancial strategic objectives and alternatives

20% Talent Development

  • Provide guidance and coaching to Analysts and other team members in problem solving and process management

  • Participate and contribute to the CSD training activities and further develop quantitative and qualitative skills

10% Corporate Development Practice

  • Drive best practice in knowledge management and contribute to other important initiatives

  • Work with the Corporate Development extended leadership team to develop the Corporate Development practice

  • Contribute to recruitment and other engagement initiatives in the CSD team


Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree from a globally reputable university with a superior academic track record

  • At least 4 to 6 years of M&A experience in an investment bank, renowned private equity or corporate development function of a multi-national corporation

  • Track record of M&A deal executions with demonstrated technical skills including solid background of financial, structuring, due diligence and legal documentation aspects of transactions

  • Results driven and ability to take ownership while holding self and others accountable

  • Ability to think strategically and see the big picture and understand the mechanics and tactics around deal making

  • Strong team player and an ability to lead teams across diverse backgrounds and ability to work with other teams across functions and businesses on deals

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English. Ability to produce solid CxO level materials for both external and internal stakeholders

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Appetite for travel (mostly regionally)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA from a top globally recognized business school is preferred but not required

  • Full fluency (read/write/speak) in a major European language is preferred but not required
