JOB TITLE: Engineering Manager

DEPARTMENT: Distribution

WORKING PATTERN: Monday to Friday


The Engineering Manager acts as the technical expert for the site of Liège . He/she accurately and efficiently manages all key aspects for developing and optimizing the site. To reach this goal, he/she is fully in charge of the maintenance, facilities and engineering aspects, by taking into account system-wide and IT implications. While applying engineering principles, he/she mentors, coaches and brings together the different technical professionals for an effective planning, and efficient operations and projects completion. His/her areas of responsibility include maintenance and facilities, as well as IT and network, and the coordination of these activities. He/she reports and advices the site Director in a timely manner.


Maintenance & Facilities activities

  1. Function as the key design development specialist for technical activities, taking the lead to satisfy the technical needs of the site

  2. Responsible for developing a technical improvement implementation plan based on business needs

  3. Manage, develop and deploy building and facilities maintenance initiatives, methodologies and associated improvement projects - by taking into account the IT impact

  4. Ensure that maintenance activities respect suppliers recommendations

  5. M anage and control contracts with suppliers, supervise and coordinate their work

  6. Supervise good housekeeping approaches to the work area

IT & Network activities

  1. Manage the overall IT related activities for the site

  2. Supervise the Service Desk deliverables

  3. Supervise the IT policy and procedures

  4. Make sure that all hardware related to operations and support functions are upgraded when needed

Team management and wider collaborations

  1. Manage the 2 direct reports and their teams, make sure that daily work meets business expectations and maintain the best work conditions for the teams

  2. Provide leadership, motivation and direction - including documented performance reviews

  3. Attain targeted performance for all listed functions in the areas of operating efficiency, adherence to schedules, quality, regulatory compliance, cost and Customer service

  4. Communicate on operational and strategic issues with the Director Distribution Operations|Liège and with the wider CooperVision community

  5. Prepare the budget and review the forecasts for IT, maintenance and facilities activities

  6. Able to function and lead effectively in a multi-discipline environment

  • Knowledge of MS Office is requested

  • Knowledge of MS Windows

  • Technical knowledge of mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc)

  • Knowledge of the conveyor technology

  • Knowledge in the following areas is a strong asset :

  • Server knowledge

  • Knowledge of Red-Hat and Linux

  • Knowledge of Microsoft language

  • Knowledge of Siemens S7 and Boolean language for PLC configuration

  • Knowledge of Grafcet

  • ‘TGBT’ knowledge

  • Knowledge of UPS and PDU

  • Knowledge of autoCAD 2D/3D
