Position Purpose & Summary:

The FSQR specialist for Antwerp & Gent supports the Location FSQR Lead in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all FSQR systems in the Antwerp & Gent location and is responsible to implement specific FSQR topics timely.

It includes:

  • responsible for controlling and assuring correct input of data in Unilab/Interspec programs, ordering laboratory and sampling related supplies and tools for the Gent QC laboratory and handle all FSQR purchase requisitions for Antwerp and Gent,

  • responsible for maintaining and calibrating in-line & benchtop equipment in Antwerp and Gent,

  • responsibility in the FSQR release of incoming raw materials and finished products,

  • supporting the execution of FSQR policies, continuous improvement of FSQR processes and systems, shaping the locations food safety culture,

  • data support during crisis, incidents or customer complaints.

  • Responsible to interact with authorities and customers on site in abcense of the locations FSQR lead

  • This position is a key member of the Antwerp & Gent location FSQR team and is the back-up for the Locations FSQR lead Antwerp & Gent.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for the inventory control and purchasing of laboratory/ testing supplies to assure all items required for testing and implementing FSQR standards are available, with oversight of the locations FSQR lead. (PRs in Maximo)

  • Implements and monitors pre-defined laboratory and procedural standards across one or more location in line with the COE QC.


  • Direct supervising a small team of Food Safety Quality Technicians in the QC laboratory in Gent

  • Responsible to organise training of all QC activities in operations Antwerp and Gent (Benchtop, inline measurements & quick operator analysis)

  • Supports in controling location budgets for FSQR resources including laboratory equipment, resources and expenses.


  • Responsibility in the FSQR release of incoming raw materials and finished products, and the data collection of all FSQR an traceability related analysis

  • Take the lead, in close collaboration with the Location FSQR lead, in COE QC initiatives for the QC lab Gent and QC operations Antwerp and Gent.

  • Responsible to maintain and improve the integrated Laboratory Information System (LIMS, Unilab, Report Manager, Interspec X-refs biodiesel).

  • Responsible to log audit and test data/ results accurately and appropriately in the correct Information Management Systems.


  • Assists in responds for the locations part to customer questions/complaints that can come via several departments as TST, operations, COE QC, authority, ...

  • Responsible to take actions to prevent FSQR issues across the locations.

  • Helps to manage incidents to minimize customer impact and follow up with corrective or preventive actions. Support the Location FSQR lead to solve crisis management issues.

  • Supports Locations FSQR lead to prepare for FSQR audits from Cargill, 3d party or customers in Gent and Antwerp


  • Key player in the design and delivery of training materials for internal FSQR people and operations employees at various levels in the organization related to food/feed safety and quality issues, practices and risks. Promotes the development of food safety mentality/culture.


  • Industrial Engineer in (bio)chemistry or food industry or an equal scientific education in combination with knowledge and interest in laboratory and processing Basic knowledge of specific analytical techniques

  • Basic knowledge of calibration techniques

  • Basic knowledge of HACCP, FSCC, EFISC

  • Basic knowledge of Food and Feed Safety legislation

  • Willing to travel between the Antwerp and Ghent location

  • Basic knowledge of auditing techniques

  • Feeling or interest in production/processing environment

  • Good knowledge of Dutch and English (speak, write, read)

  • Quick learning and potential to grow in the function.
