Position Description

The Operations Quality Manager has the responsibility to :

  • Secure delivered quality as perceived by customers and dealers by ensuring that the CDC is receiving, handling, storing, and delivering products according to the defined process and specifications.

  • Identify improvement needs to continuously enhance customer and dealer delivered quality from CDC Gent

  • Secure efficiency of the Quality management at the CDC Gent level.

You report to the Director Quality and Environment.

Main activities and responsibilities

  • Ensure the customer voice for quality is heard throughout the CDC flows

  • With the purpose to deliver with quality to customers organize and manage the quality teams in the following areas:

  • Material Quality (Material Supplier Quality)

  • Operations Quality

  • Delivered Product Quality, deviations & campaigns coordination.

  • Implement best practices in quality throughout the CDC and facilitate cross functional collaboration for the customer quality perception.

  • In case of customer claims or any major quality issue, secure immediate containment actions (if needed stop deliveries) and secure that effective root-cause analysis and action plans has been performed.

  • Represent quality in the different projects: analyze risks and promote preventive actions to the different stakeholders.

  • Measure supplier Quality in the CDC and in case of non-conformities secures immediate containment actions cross-functionally with relevant stakeholders e.g. SQA functions.

  • Drive the quality roadmap “Going for gold”

  • Stop product delivery in case of gaps of compliance towards product / process / legal environment requirements, with high potential impact to customer satisfaction (including safety potential effect).

  • Stop actions / processes not compliant with safety, environment or product care.

  • Full authority within own function as long as:

  • All Volvo AB authorization rules are followed.

  • Volvo AB policies and procedures are followed.

  • Regular follow up meetings are held with the director Q&E.

  • Lead a team of approx. 10 people. Secure employee engagement, performance excellence and leadership effectiveness (measured through the VGAS).


  • University degree or equivalent by experience.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools ( as well basic as advanced )

  • Customer orientation mindset.

  • Ability to work in International and multi-cultural environment.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Structured with good analytical skills.’

  • Logical thinking and ability to analyse and solve problems.

  • Ability to coach on problem solving methodology.

  • Desire to take challenges.

  • Strong continuous improvement skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to define priorities.

  • Experience in team management

  • Proficiency in English language.

  • Min 5 years experience in quality / experience in logistics or manufacturing is an advantage
