J&J Family of Companies Operations Manager External Funding in Beerse, Belgium
Governmental funding and public-private partnerships have become increasingly important in the pharmaceutical sector. These funding mechanisms aim to speed up the development of better and safer medicines for patients and to support collaborative research projects. Because of this increasing importance, it’s key to ensure optimal benefit of the available funding opportunities, but at the same time to ensure that the associated obligations are met. The Global Government Grant Office (G3O) is a Center of Excellence comprised of dedicated J&J business partners established to help secure and maximize external funding and resource opportunities. The G3O also helps to ensure consistency and compliance in contracts and grant across the organization.
We’re looking for an Operations Manager (temporary position, 5 years with possible extension) to strengthen the G3O team.
The Operations Manager External funding will work in close collaboration with the Director EU Grants and the G3O team.
The main focus will be on providing operational support on:
Grants in the following area: Regional, Innovation, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship (e.g. European Structural Funds, VLAIO, VEA, …)
National funding types in the EU (eg. ZonMW; Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council,…)
On the preparation of submissions ensuring compliance with EU State Aid regulations.
On interactions with the governmental grant agencies at the pre-award stage, execution and audit
Provides operational grant application support from idea generation, application and negotiation, project kick-off until close-out.
Ensures a smooth transition from the pre-award phase to the implementation phase.
Will assist with grant administration, project scoping to ensure compliance with State Aid/Exemptions (GBER), data collection, budget preparation and coordination of grant submission.
Works in Close collaboration with the R&D G3O operations team to provide Subject Matter Expertise on externally funded projects and State Aid compliance.
Defines, consolidates, applies and improves operational aspects and processes related to the application stages of externally funded projects.
Ensures grant applications are in line with the policies and regulations of both the organization and funding agency and EU.
Facilitates team communication and enhances communication flows related to grants and Public Private Partnerships.
Prepares and organizes internal and external project meetings.
Minimum degree of bachelor
Proven experience with grant management in the area of Regional, Innovation, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship is a must; minimum of 10 years (e.g EFRO, Interreg, ESF, STS, …).
Experience in writing project proposals and understanding of funding policies, State Aid regulations and funding/subsidy schemes (regional, national and international level).
Experience in interactions with public governmental grant agencies.
Knowledge of project management tools & techniques is a plus.
Experience in working in multinational/multicultural organizations.
Flexibility and excellent communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, resolve conflict, and influence teams without formal authority, is required.
Successful experience in managing or leading global and/or virtual teams is highly desirable, especially if done within a matrix organization.
Experience with IT and data knowledge management is favorable
