Microsoft Belgium & Luxembourg is a developed market Subsidiary, part of the Western Europe Area and operates as a key enabler of the market IT growth through solid partnership with Governments, Enterprise, small and medium as well as IT partners and consumer partners of the region. Belgium & Luxembourg Finance team has the responsibility to partner with sales and marketing teams as well as supporting Microsoft legal entities in Belgium & Luxembourg. Microsoft Finance is a truly global finance team and you will be part of the WW community of Stat & Tax Controllers to make each other great and build on each other.

Job’s Purpose The Statutory & Tax Controller is responsible for timely and accurate completion of all statutory and tax filings, including the local statutory financial statements. Where applicable, the role involves training Finance and business stakeholders on tax or statutory requirements and working with external service providers such as Accenture, EY, or KMPG as well as external parties such as the external auditors or the tax authorities.

Job’s Details

For all legal entities in the country including JV impacting MS financial statements:

•Accountable for accurate Stat records and timely annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP and local statutory and tax regulation.

•Review and sign off on balance sheet reconciliations as well as variance analysis.

•Monitor, review, and oversee the Stat & Tax work of One Finance to ensure best ROI. Where applicable, manage accounting operations team to ensure financial report integrity and completeness.

•Manage external auditor relationship and year end external financial audits

•Accountable for accurate and timely tax filings, including indirect taxes.

•Support & educate the business on the applicable tax model

•Support audits from local tax authorities or other government agencies.

•Land global projects in the country of operation, as well as country-driven expansions, with proper financial infrastructure and statutory registration in compliance with local accounting, tax regulations as well as MS global processes.

•Identify all non-standard management transactions (e.g. cross-charges, accruals, commission) and review their statutory implications before any decision to proceed

•Communicate to the Corp Tax team any important changes in local tax legislation that could affect the MS business model (e.g. changes in local transfer pricing legislation)

•Responsible to maintain local transfer pricing file in line with local legislation and in collaboration with Corp tax

•Establish new/develop and drive existing internal controls, control processes and accounting procedures

Key indicators of success

•Meet local tax and statutory filing requirement – no delayed or incorrect filings

•Successful implementation of any projects to land external or internal changes in regulation of processes related to Statutory accounting or taxes

•Provide business BI from statutory Balance Sheet and Variance reviews

•No findings from statutory audit (where applicable)

•Proactively collaborate with key partners to early flag and escalate risks and issues

Qualifications

7-10 years of experience in Finance, accounting or audit positions

Statutory (Local GAAP, USGAAP) Accounting, Controlling, Tax knowledge (including indirect taxes)

BA/BS/MA/MS or MBA degree in Finance, Economics, CA/CPA preferred
