As a Senior Scientist – Protein Chemistry, you will be a member of Ingredient Chemistry Team, striving for success of Cargill Global Ingredient, Material and Nutrition Research. You will work closely together with the scientists and build strong connections with technical resources housed in the various Cargill Businesses.
You will support Cargill Global Ingredient, Material and Nutrition Research business by providing knowledge and scientific insight in the field of vegetable proteins. You will lead and participate in the execution of scientific research programs.
In addition, you will search for new opportunities and research areas that are aligned with the company’s research and product line strategy.
You will manage foundational research projects within Cargill’s Ingredient, Material and Nutrition team and with other Cargill businesses
You will lead technical projects in the area of Protein Chemistry
You will provide scientific advice on proteins and contribute to business driven projects
You will scout for new research areas by monitoring scientific literature and by understanding customer and market needs
You will identify technical knowledge gaps and leverage internal and external technology partnerships
You will drive technology scouting activities and actively explore external technologies
You will engage with internal and external partners including knowledge institutions, universities, technology vendors and scientific industry groups
You will represent Cargill through presentations at scientific conferences and publications in scientific literature
You will monitor and create intellectual property, including submission of invention disclosures and interfacing with Intellectual Asset Specialist to initiate Confidential Disclosure Agreement, Material Transfer Agreements, Patent Applications, etc.
Master Degree or PhD in (Bio) Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Science or closely related field
5-10 years food industry experience, preferably in Research or Product Development
Demonstrated knowledge in the field of protein chemistry and research
Highly effective project management skills
Ability to work in diverse and cross-functional teams
Proficient in English language
