Job location(s): Vilvoorde, Belgium

The Supervisor position supports the execution of the R&D pipeline for multiple functions of Cargill’s Technology Job Family. In this respect, the position implements the Material Processing strategy as part of the Ingredient, Material and Nutrition R&D function.

Major Tasks:

  • Preparation and organization of the process pilot trial together with requestor/trial lead according to our operation model, and which includes resource allocation, deciding on use of assets portfolio, equipment modifications, identification of trial leader, etc.

  • Lead and continue to develop a highly engaged and performing team of process operators and process specialists (trial leads, user function in CAPEX projects, etc.). This includes (frequent) presence in the pilot plant and provide leadership where needed during (complex) process trials

  • Strategic CAPEX planning (which includes acting as representative in Vilvoorde tactical CAPEX committee) and support execution of such projects.

  • Proactively align and disseminate activities of the process pilot plant towards Cargill stakeholders: actively participate in meetings with Product Group R&D leaders and/or COE leads, align with other process pilot plants in Cargill on equipment and procedures, and connect with Central Engineering for engineering support.


  • Engineer (chemical, agricultural, other).

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in related function.

  • Practical experience with Cargill’s Core Technologies applied in Process Pilot Plant.

  • Process and product development.

  • Process design and data interpretation.

  • Practical experience of safety and food safety principles.

  • Team leadership skills.

  • Coordination skills: planning and working with various functions.

  • Assets management including CAPEX planning.

  • Good technical writing and communication skills.

  • PC literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Fluency in English is a must. Knowledge in Dutch or French is desired.

  • Feel at ease working with ambiguous situations, problem solving, flexible and team player.
