The Associate Director of Strategy and Operations will be responsible to lead Immunology clinical development innovation and process improvements leading to an improved Immunology Therapeutic Area (TA) efficiency and flawless execution of the development portfolio Janssen’s development portfolio across the Rheumatology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Dermatology Disease Area Strongholds (DASs). The position will be focusing at distinct projects and initiatives at Immunology portfolio level as assigned by the Strategy and Operations Support Leader (SOSL). The position will explore new territories and partner with internal J&J departments to drive clinical trial innovation for translational medicine and early development in support of the immunology clinical development group. Focus area will be the optimal alignment of critical interfaces such as (but not limited to) Research and Development Operations- Innovation, J&J cross-sector opportunities, World Without Disease Organization, Global Clinical Development Operations and supplier touchpoints and interfaces with the TA and DAS capabilities in both Early and Late Development. The position will utilize his/her external network to leverage innovation capabilities. This position will independently identify opportunities in partnership with the operational functions, build the business case, ensure endorsement of plan, and lead a project team through delivery to plan upon endorsement of the SOSL or TA leadership as appropriate. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Actively identify opportunities in clinical trial innovation to deliver the next generation solutions for treatment and interception of immune-mediated diseases.
Lead Immunology Development Innovation and Process Improvement
Support IOC sponsored issue resolution work groups. Provide leadership and establish cross functional teams to deliver on quality or process improvement initiatives or projects sponsored out of IOC as a result of trend analysis or issue escalation at portfolio level. Ensures appropriate progress reporting and project manage the teams to meet agreed upon milestones.
Drive clinical development Lessons Learned and best practices recommendations at portfolio level.
Degree in a scientific discipline with at least 7 years of experience in lead positions, along with a track record of global project management experience in biotech, pharma, CRO or an Academia environment is required
Experience in both early and late development is preferred
Excellent and proven people leadership skills in a matrix environment is required
Profound experience in managing both in and external stakeholders is required, especially in project management and business process improvement under GxP conditions
Sound clinical financial acumen and interest in health technology and data management capabilities is preferred
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10-15% of the time, defined by business needs is required (International as well as Domestic)
