JOB TITLE: Supervisor Inventory operations

SHIFT: Day – 37 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Monday to Friday

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Inventory Manager, the Supervisor Inventory operations leads the day-to-day activities within the different operational teams, ensuring team leaders and all operators are clear of their specific work objectives, by providing general guidance on operational tasks. He/she is responsible for order filling, goods in, replenishment and labeling operations. The Inventory Supervisor converts the operational forecasts into practical working needs. He/she works in close cooperation with the distribution department to make sure business objectives (such as output and productivity) are met. He/she contributes to the continuous improvement of the service provided to customers. In addition, he/she manages the top down communication, making sure all his/her business units provide the same efficient message to operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Warehouse activities

  1. Support the Inventory Manager in handling the specific functions and teams relative to inventory management (material and finished goods), cycle counting, receiving, replenishment, order filling and labelling

  2. Challenge productivity and quality along the chain, by providing feedback, motivating and empowering staff

  3. Manage the picking process closely with the packing and lean department to ensure the best flow of orders is maintained

  4. Make sure the correct workload is balance between the department under his/her responsibility

  5. Ensure staff is trained, that SOP’s/GMP’s are followed and up-to-date, and plan cross-trainings with the workforce specialist. Is responsible for the procedures of his/her department.

  6. Use data to establish planning in coordination with the lean department, adapt resources to workload and track productivity. Addresses staff needs.

  7. Make sure production priorities are followed.

  8. Work closely with RAQA and Health & Safety departments. More specifically, promote Health & Safety within the team and the environment, ensuring safe practice regarding the use of equipment (forklift trucks, conveyor, storage system) and general good housekeeping approaches to the work area

  9. Provide detailed performance reporting to management on both a regular and ad hoc basis. Is able to implement productivity and workload analysis tools to track every activity variance.

  10. Analyze root cause, take operational decision accordingly and commit Business Unit Leaders to make operational decision sounds.

  11. Maintain 5S methodology.

Team management

  1. Provide leadership, motivation, direction and focus to the team leaders, including documented performance reviews

  2. Attain targeted performance for all listed functions in the areas of operating efficiency, adherence to schedule, quality, regulatory compliance, cost and customer service

  3. Must be an effective communicator, capable of teaching and generating results from his/her Business Unit Leaders.

  4. Build a collaborative environment with Leaders, operators and unions.

QUALIFICATIONS

/ KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES /

/ Technical skills: /

  • Information Technology – Knowledge of a WMS / WCS system and an ERP system (Baan)

  • Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint for reporting purposes

  • Technical understanding of major inventory controls and MHE technologies and processes

  • Good understanding of major financial concepts including costing and ROI calculations

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Orientation in management and/or logistics is an asset
