Job location: Herent, Belgium

For a period of 2-years, the Technical Management Trainee will assume different positions within the plant operations environment in the European region of the Cargill Malt BU. It is expected that the TMT will apply her/his technical expertise and leadership potential in a hands-on environment, covering a wide range of activities from production, quality control, inventory management, maintenance, process reliability and engineering.

The TMT will be expected to contribute to productivity / efficiency, quality and process improvements in our 5 facilities in Europe.

Major Tasks:

  • The TMT is expected to take on different activities within the malt production environment with the objectives of learning the specifics of the process, the raw material, the assets and the overall beer / malting industry challenges and opportunities. The different positions will be attributed following a rotating schedule with the objective to cover all areas in a progressive way, requiring sometimes to work in the same areas but distributed in time to better understand the overall process.

  • It is expected that the TMT will contribute actively in the day-to-day activities or could take over certain activities that are part of other roles (example: blending and handling shipment documents). It is also expected that the TMT will write reports on the learnings and propose process improvements to the area supervisor.

  • Collaborate and co-lead continuous improvement projects related to improve plant efficiencies (energy, water, yield, plant cost, …) and the overall asset reliability using Cargill Reliability Excellence tools

  • Help with setting up training material and standard operations procedures related to the malt production, co-lead the training program with the entire production people group

  • Job shadowing and gradually assuming the leadership of the different areas of the production and maintenance environment according to progress measured on the overall training schedule. These supervision roles will include people and assets (equipment).

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering (Biochemistry, Chemical, Process, Agricultural, Food Science, or Mechanical)

  • From recent graduate to 2 years of practical working experience

  • High integrity standards: doing what is “right” whatever it takes

  • Action oriented. Takes initiative and be able to proactively identify and resolve problems

  • Computer savvy and strong analytical skills

  • Strictly applying safety rules

  • Able to work in an organized way with proven experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines

  • Willing to travel within the EU region and flexibility to relocate to other countries

  • Demonstrated natural leadership ability

  • Self-starter. Highly motivated and able to work independently

  • Team player with ability to work in a multi-cultural and cross-functional team with global mind-set

  • Fast learning and self-development: curiosity to learn

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Flexibility. Able to cope with fast changes within a growing company. Hands on

  • Creativity and innovative approach in building and/or improving systems and processes

  • Fluent in Dutch, English. French and German is a plus
