Position Description

We operate the Central Distribution Center in Gent, the Support Distribution Centers across Europe, the Material Planning and Service Center Operations in Sweden and Belgium.

The Manager Human Resource has the responsibility:

  • To advise and support the managers in all HR related items that drive business performance. This involves translating business strategy into aligned HR plans and actions, and ensuring their delivery in the business.

  • To represent Service Market Logistics in Belgium, responsible for Labour Relations and legal compliance from an HR point of view in Belgium.

You report to the HR Director Gent and Europe and will be responsible for the HR agenda in Belgium.

Main activities and responsibilities

  • Develop and execute on action plans, strategies and objectives, following HR policies and roadmap.

  • Ensure that HR policies and procedures are respecting legal requirements and Volvo Group Values.

  • Drive and support managers in Talent Management and Succession Planning.

  • Drive leadership development within the different departments you support.

  • Drive People Development within VPS framework.

  • Act as change agent to support managers in the roll out of organizational initiatives, and promote cross-cultural integration.

  • Ensure legal compliance in HR matters, intervene and escalate when needed.

  • Secure and develop collaboration with relevant stakeholders at the site.

  • Member of HR Country Committee, Compensation Committee and Mobility Forum. Representative in CPBW, Works Council and Economic Financial Information Forum. Member of Gent site negotiation team for industrial workers and office workers matters.

  • Drive Safety, Health and Wellbeing initiatives and secure that legal requirements are in place.

  • Secure employee engagement, performance excellence and leadership effectiveness in the Human Resources team.


  • You have relevant and substantial experience in Human Resources and experience in Volvo HR processes and tools as well as a strong understanding of business challenges in an international environment.

  • You are skilled in Belgian social law and have experience in negotiating with unions both industrial workers and office workers.

  • You are able to demonstrate a clear vision, global mindset and are successful in people and team development and culture leadership.

  • You are highly skilled in coaching and facilitation as well as having a good understanding of interpersonal relations and organizational development.

  • You have strong communication skills, also able to create trustful relations in spite of cultural differences and geographical distances.

  • You have proven leadership skills.

  • In a group that values quality, safety, environment, diversity and respect for the individual, you have strong personal credibility, integrity and creativity. The work includes problem-solving abilities and a good understanding of the business environment.

  • Proven change management experience, ability to create a trustful climate and atmosphere in challenging situations.

  • Proficiency in the English language is required, other languages are beneficial.

Location: Gent. Occasional travelling will be required.
