Under the direction and oversight of the Global Marketing Leader (GML) J&J GPH HIV Focus Area, the Director Marketing for HIV CDT is accountable for leading the development and implementation of business and marketing strategies supporting development and launch of products and technologies under the scope of J&J GPH HIV CDT. He/she collaborates with internal and external commercial, medical, access, and supply chain partners to ensure strategies are informed by the J&JGPH value creation framework, have robust forecasting and segmentation input, and are executed in a timely manner. As part of the GML team, this role shares responsibility for ensuring that product and technology strategies are incorporated in the J&JGPH Focus Area strategic and business plans.

The Director will function as the commercial and marketing representative on the J&J GPH HIV CDT, be accountable for critical foundational elements, and must take a proactive role on the CDT in shaping the development strategy. The Director proactively collaborates with access and medical colleagues on the CDT to build comprehensive marketing and commercial strategies in support of optimal product launch planning and ultimately health impact. He/she partners across regions and functions as the leader for the J&JGPH value creation framework for the CDT to incorporate, as appropriate, insights and commercial input. He/She ensures commercial leadership and guidance are incorporated into the global regulatory and clinical development plans throughout the lifecycle of the products within the CDT; and provides functional leadership to ensure the development of highly differentiated products with commercially relevant value propositions. The role is accountable for delivering commercial input into future market-oriented Target Product Profiles (TPPs), and ensuring commercial insights and future market dynamics are embedded in these aspirational profiles and the supporting development strategies. The Director will lead the development of forecasts and full asset valuations in collaboration with the Finance team.

The Director is expected to be a strong partner with Medical Affairs, Access, and R&D to shape product development scenarios, provide input into clinical study design and drive optimal lifecycle management; under the direction of the Global Marketing Leader, ensure assigned assets have a robust and highly differentiated value propositions based on high quality commercial and business input. The position involves potential collaboration with strategic external partners (e.g. other pharma companies) to optimize global strategies for assigned assets.

Additional responsibilities include oversight of marketing budgets in support of the CDT and participation in annual strategy and business planning processes.


  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree in business or life sciences is preferred.

  • Experience in strategic or in-line marketing in HIV is highly preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical (or broader healthcare) sales & marketing experience is required

  • A proven track record of performance in matrix team environments is required.

  • A working understanding of Health Care Compliance guidelines, processes, and constraints and FCPA exposure a plus.

  • This position can be based in New Brunswick, NJ, Horsham, PA,Diegem, Belgium, or Beerse, Belgium, and will require up to 45% travel (30% international and 15% domestic depending on location).
