The Pharmacokinetics Dynamics & Metabolism (PDM) department within Janssen Research & Development is constantly strengthening its team and is currently looking for a Senior Scientist with expertise in Biotransformation.

Your responsibilities:

In your role as senior scientist within the PDM department you will take a leading role in designing and interpreting biotransformation & metabolism studies all aimed to improve our success in bringing differentiated medicines to patients. You will be asked to provide data interpretation, to present data to international multidisciplinary projects teams, to write high quality scientific reports and to integrate derived knowledge into the overall discovery and development process of new drug candidate. In addition, there will be the opportunity to represent our discipline on discovery project teams.


  • Hands-on experience in the field of LC-MS in support of drug metabolism and biotransformation studies - experience in the structural elucidation of drug metabolites is preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of drug metabolism, enzymology, bioactivation, and ability to translate data into project relevance as part of anticipating and/or mitigating project challenges.

  • Ability to independently diagnose and solve complex technical and scientific problems

  • High level of professional and personal flexibility, creativity and sense of responsibility

  • Being a team player with strong communication in an international team setting including a matrix environment

  • Good negotiation and influencing skills, priority setting and adherence to project and departmental timelines

  • To qualify as PDM representative on discovery project teams. Strong understanding of various PDM relevant areas such as physicochemical properties, drug metabolizing enzyme & transporter kinetics, pharmacokinetics, mechanistic biotransformation, bioanalytical data troubleshooting is highly preferred.

  • Education: Ph.D. in Medicinal/Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism or related field, with at least 3+ years of relevant academic or industrial experience.
