Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Global Marketing Leader, HIV Franchise to be based in one of the following locations: New Brunswick, NJ; Horsham, PA; Beerse, Belgium; or Diegem, Belgium.

  • Reports to Focus Area Strategy Team (FAST) Leader HIV, or delegate of VP Global Program Strategy group within J&J GPH.

  • The Global Marketing Leader (GML) HIV leads and executes the global public health marketing/business strategy for HIV products and technologies including pharmaceuticals, devices, diagnostics and vaccines for resource limited and global public health settings in collaboration with internal partners as appropriate.

  • This includes marketing assessments and forecasts to support investment decisions, liaison with regional and priority market commercial partners as well as supply chain, regulatory, clinical, market access to ensure appropriate marketing/business input into the clinical development plan and commercialization strategy.

  • It includes leading a matrix and direct reporting team of marketing and commercial professionals including the director Market Access for IPM (device) the director marketing for HIV CDT (pharmaceuticals) the GPH global commercial team for Viral Load testing and portfolio optimization strategy (diagnostics).

  • In addition, this role works closely with colleagues in the HIV Infectious Diseases & Vaccines therapeutic area in Janssen to ensure we have a company landscape view that optimizes the impact of our commercial and GPH portfolios and strategies in commercial and public health markets.

  • The GML will serve as the leader of a matrix cross-functional global commercial team of nominated commercial and medical affairs representatives as relevant for the creation of a global commercial strategy for the portfolio of products and technologies in the HIV FAST team strategy, the detailed preparation of business cases and forecasts and commercial strategy including brand strategy, partnerships, leverage with the existing portfolio of HIV products in the commercial Janssen business as well as external partners as relevant.

  • The GML will be accountable for the marketing & commercial recommendations regarding the investment case and opportunity assessments for the HIV FAST team.

  • This work will be built on the principles of Value Creation, deliverables include: landscape assessment/ Market Definition, Opportunity Sequencing Plan, Leverage Points and Behavioral Objectives, Positioning, Global Message Platform, and Value Proposition.

  • The GML partners with the regions and external stakeholders, as appropriate, to incorporate J&JGPH value creation (cross-sector value excellence, design to value, new way of marketing) into all aspects of the global and regional commercial / business strategy; provides commercial leadership and guidance into the global regulatory and clinical development plans throughout the lifecycle of the compound; and provides functional leadership to the Compound Development Team (CDT), championing the commercial strategy.

  • The GML partners with the Global Access Leaders, Global Program Leaders and Global Medical Affairs Leaders as required to support optimal uptake and utilization of any novel technologies.

  • After approval and execution of clinical studies, the Global Marketing Leader is responsible for developing and implementing strategy appropriate for the global marketplace and supporting the worldwide launch of the assigned product(s) in its core business as well as in new indications.

  • GML plays a major role in leading the launch of the assigned product(s) in the given disease area as well as the future lifecycle plan, conducting commercial evaluations for new opportunities and developing strategies to optimize the future growth of the HIV portfolio in GPH based on creating strategies supporting sustainable commercial and clinical opportunity assessments and business cases.

  • The position will collaborate with strategic external partners (other pharma or diagnostic companies) to optimize the impact of global strategies.

  • The GML is expected to provide proactive partnership with R&D to provide input into clinical study development, product development decisions, and labeling that supports the commercial launch strategy and lifecycle management investments.

  • Drive development and implementation of key components of commercial strategy, including branding, public relations, medical strategy, publication strategy, market access/reimbursement strategies, and other market preparation programs.


  • A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.

  • An advanced degree in business or life sciences is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive marketing & commercial experience is required with a proven track record of exceptional team & cross-functional leadership.

  • Health care (pharmaceutical, consumer, medical device) industry experience is required.

  • Experience within the assigned disease area of HIV will be highly regarded but not essential.

  • Matrix leadership experience required.

  • Understanding and experience with R&D programs and the development of medical strategy is preferred.

  • This position can be based in one of the following locations: New Brunswick, NJ; Horsham, PA; Beerse, Belgium; or Diegem, Belgium
