The Director, Global Site Contracting Resource Center will lead a global and cross-sector team of regionally based contract associates in the J&J R&D Procurement, Contract and Compliance Services Team providing cross-sector support for the delivery and execution of all site agreements for R&D studies.

This role will have a strong partnering and delivery focus and lead 4 key elements:

  • Support the Site Engagement team in the delivery of site agreements and amendments.

  • Partner with Site Engagement and business leads to lead and deliver strategic MSAs.

  • Develop and maintain site agreement fall back language and template library.

  • Develop and maintain needed cross-sector templates.

This leader will ensure timely delivery of work and support cycle time targets. This key leadership role will work closely with the Contract and Compliance Services leadership team, legal and Health Care Compliance departments and leaders within the cross-sector R&D organizations.

The Director, Global Site Contracting Resource Center will lead pro-actively to ensure that the principles of the Credo and J&J Business and Procurement policies are used in all agreements managed by the team.

The Director, Global Site Contracting Resource Center reports to the Senior Director, Contract & Compliance Services.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage a global team of regionally based contract associates with a focus on supporting the delivery of site agreements to the Site Engagement team for the cross-sector R&D study teams. This involves triaging and prioritizing requests and review, negotiation and resolution of site agreement edits/redlines to ensure all timelines are met or escalated appropriately. Work with legal as needed.

  • Manage driving the strategic plan for MSAs in proactive support of business needs.

  • Ensure contract template library is complete and compliant and reviewed and updated as needed. Understands the business needs and develops new templates based upon dynamic changes and growth.

  • Lead the team in the support/ development/maintenance of fall back language.

  • Ensure any escalations are promptly resolved, responded and align with the company and legal requirements.

  • Ensure good communication across team and partners.

  • Ensure our contract negotiators are trained on the use of template, fallback languages and related processes and requirements. Owns and ensures we have a controlled process to leverage language from previously executed agreements with key investigators. Aligns closely with legal to ensure all used languages is within company guidelines.

  • Strong people leadership and engagement; support the 5 conversations and support profession development. Directs resource planning and people management for recruiting, training, managing, coaching/mentoring, workload prioritizing, and evaluating staff members.

Decision-Making and Problem-Solving:

  • Exercises a high level of independence, balancing team work load and resolving complex contracting issues.

  • Able to develop operational strategies and plans in support of functional imperatives.

  • Decisions: Escalation, priority setting, managing deliverables in a timely manner.

  • Problems: Influence business partners to follow procurement policies, Prioritize negotiations with business partners and JRP.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Life Sciences or related field.

  • At least 9 years working in Procurement, Supply Chain, Contracting or R&D operations.

  • People management experience.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and be results oriented.

  • Ability to partner and be customer-focused is essential.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional and/or cross-affiliate teams.

  • Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective alternatives when necessary and delegate large volume of work.

  • Change management experience.

  • Minimum 10 years in a business environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing direct reports.

  • Must have an experience with the product/drug development process.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic and international.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree; MBA, Ph.D.

  • Legal degree or background.
