With the implementation date of IFRS 9 and the publication IFRS 17 approaching fast, these standards are about to become a hot topic for insurance companies.
Therefore, our growing Financial Accounting Advisory Services is looking for professionals with solid knowledge of IFRS 9 / IFRS 17 and/or experience in implementing accounting standards to support our insurance clients in their journey towards compliance with these new standards.
The role will be at Senior or Manager level, in line with your experience.
The matters we cover
Advise our insurance clients on the practical implementation of new accounting and regulatory standards.
Provide added-value insights on the impact of these new standards on accounting and reporting processes, systems and controls.
Combine technical accounting expertise with insights from our Assurance, Advisory, Transactions and Tax departments eg:
For the implementation of the IFRS 9 standard we work closely together with our Risk colleagues on the design and implementation of the impairment models.
For the implementation of the IFRS 17 standard we work closely together with our Actuarial colleagues to develop the liability valuation models .
Your main tasks and responsibilities
Actively contribute to the development of IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 solutions
Improve the accounting and reporting processes
Contribute to delivery of implementation projects, and investigation and resolution of technical accounting issues
Conduct analyses on accounting policies applied in financial statements
Research technical issues and the produce briefing papers for clients and internal staff
Provide technical advice to ad-hoc queries from clients and internal staff as needed
Work effectively as a team member, supervise and coach more junior staff
Build strong internal relationships within EY Advisory and with other service lines across the organization
Build good relationships with client personnel. Depending on your experience and future ambitions play an active client-facing role.
To qualify for the role you must have
Relevant work experience (between 2 and 8 years)
Former experience in IFRS related work, by preference in the insurance sector
A strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy
The ability to translate complex topics into clear, comprehensible communication to a broad audience
Excellent communication skills, with fluency in Dutch and/or French and proficient level of business English
A global mindset and the drive to work in international teams
